Sustainable Satellite

Welcome to Sustainable Satellite Beach!

The City`s Sustainability Action Plan has been adopted and is being implemented.

The first Green Achievement Target was the LOGOS community garden, it was constructed in partnership with Eagle Scout troop 309 in June of 2017. Then in December of 2017 the city installed an electric vehicle (EV) and EV charging station. Next in 2018 the City is getting ready to install solar on the roof of City Hall. Also in 2018 there will be a series of workshops (click here for dates and topics about the workshops) that are available to the public about projects programs and more, including a stormwater upgrade project along Desoto Parkway and a small plant grant available to residents who live along the water. If you would like to be part of this Sustainability Action Plan and its projects please contact to the Environmental Programs Coordinator, Nicholas Frank Sanzone, via email at or call (321) 773-4407.

The City of Satellite Beach is constantly working on expanding and developing environmentally friendly initiatives for current residents and future generations.  We are proud of what has been accomplished thus far, and eager to continue working to achieve greater success!

To keep up with the latest initiatives, please join us at our Sustainability Board meetings, which take place the 4th Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, located at 565 Cassia Boulevard in Satellite Beach.

Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Financing

PACE is a way to finance energy efficiency, renewable energy, and wind mitigation upgrades to buildings.  PACE can pay for solar panels, roof replacement, new heating and cooling systems, lighting improvements, water pumps, insulation, structural wind mitigation hardening, and more for almost any property – homes, commercial, industrial, non-profit, and agricultural.

PACE financing pays for 100% of a project’s costs and is repaid over a period of up to 20 years through a voluntary non-ad valorem assessment added to the property’s tax bill.  PACE assessments stay with the property upon sale.

PACE assessments are co-equal in dignity with all other assessments on the tax bill.
PACE assessments are not considered a loan by credit agencies.  Eligibility and interest charged do not depend on an applicant’s credit score.

In Florida PACE financing is governed by Section 163.08 Florida Statutes, “Supplemental authority for improvements to real property”.

A local government must enter into an agreement with a PACE funding provider to allow that entity to place its projects onto the local government’s tax bills.  Satellite Beach has entered into such an agreement with all four PACE funding providers now authorized to operate in Florida.

All four PACE funding providers are available to property owners in Satellite Beach.
